A little bit about Marilou: Marilou is 81 years old and still living a very full and active life. Marilou worked as a secretary at General Electric for 38 years. She is also a cancer survivor. Marilou has a very loving family of whom she is extremely proud. Marilou has been married twice and all together she has 10 children. All her children have graduated from college and several have doctorate degrees! She also has 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren!
What led Marilou to join MAC? Marilou had been working at Stepping Stones in their pool and when they closed she came to MAC. She then decided to do something for herself and she joined the Zumba class and has stayed with it for six years! The Zumba participants have given Marilou an enormous amount of friendship and encouragement as have the members in the water aerobics classes.
Marilou says that every time she comes through the door at MAC she gets a warm welcome from all of the staff at the desk and again when she leaves they wish her a good day. Even when she is tired they make it easy to workout. She loves that all of the instructors go out of their way to teach her to help her improve.
Personal Success Story: Marilou doesn’t see herself as a success story, but she has learned to accept the deaths of her son and husbands. She believes that being active and contributing to the lives of others has given her a measure of success.
Words of advice: Marilou believes all of us can be helpful to someone else and that helpfulness will be paid back ten-fold!
